Social Media

It is important to maintain an online presence. This is just one major source of work that needs to occur in an artist’s career on top of studio work, grant research and residency applications. Often I wonder how much my blogging, facebooking, tublring, twittering etc. is helping me or if it is just absorbing more of my time, time that could be spent in the studio. However, I feel that maintaining an online presence opens doors that might not be available to me otherwise and so I continue.

A recent find for me is the website Art Stack, a social media site geared specifically towards art and artists. Within days of posting work I had a curator “friend” me and repost my work. Who knows? It could prove to be valuable at some point.
